Description:
Abstract:

This invention relates to new and useful improvements in ratchets, and is designed with special reference to use upon boring-mills, planers, and other machine tools. The feed-shafts of machine-tools of the above class frequently require a slight movement i5 for the fine setting of adjustment of the tool.

Claim:

In a ratchet of the class described, the combination of a sleeve, an arm pivoted thereon, a spring-actuated plunger mounted therein to engage the sleeve, a lever pivoted in the arm having shoulders engaged by the plunger to normally retain the lever i an intermediate position and adapted to operate the plunger by either a forward or backward movement of the lever. "2. In a ratchet of the class described, the combination with a sleeve having & toothed periphery, of an arm pivotally mounted thereon, a plunger mounted in the arm and adapted to engage the teeth of the sleeve, means to normally hold the plunger away from the teeth, a lever pivoted in the arm adapted. to operate the plunger to engage said sleeve by either a forward or backward movement.
