Description:
This device is used to collapse a split rim in order to change the tire. This type of rim was used on early automobile wheels including on the Ford Model T and Model A. See Canada patent {CA230,451} for more information on the company and its products. The Pacific Rim Tool Co. was "A partnership consisting of William T. Kennedy and Thomas L. Kennedy, both of Cleveland, Ohio, and John A. Kennedy, of Seattle, Washington." In early 1929 the Pacific Rim Tool Co. sold the rights to the "Pacific Rim Tool" name and, apparently, to that Canadian patent, to Marquette Mfg. Co. of St. Paul, MN. The former Pacific Rim Tool CO. changed its name to Kennedy & Kennedy. Under that name they manufactured the "Kennedy C. W. C. Rim Tool and the Elgin 5-Purpose Tire Valve Tool."
