Joel Havens "Vintage Machinery" entry for Gray-Grimes Tool Co.
|
Description: |
The patent specification references the inventor's earlier patent 2,177,820.
An example of this invention has been seen. It is stamped with the patent number, "DeSoto Boring Chuck", and "DeSoto Tool Co., Detroit". The DeSoto Boring Chuck was written up in various metalworking magazines in the mid-1940s. We have also seen an undated sales brochure for "Samson" boring chucks, "Pat. No. 2276462". The last page of the brochure says, "Manufactured by Gray-Grimes Tool Co. for Last Word Sales Company / 18500 Mt. Elliott / Detroit 34, Michigan / Also, distributor of Last Word Wheel Dressers / Gray-Grimes Steady-Rests". |
