The patent specification describes how a guitar is held: at that time the guitar was played in a seated position and a strap was not used. The patent covers improvements to the shape of the guitar to make it more comfortable to play while seated. At about this time guitar players were transitioning to playing while seated, and the sculpted body shape would prove to be less important for those who play while standing.This patent mentions the vibrato (tremolo) mechanism of patent 2,741,146. We have seen a Fender Jaguar bearing the patent numbers D186,826, 2,960,900, 2,972,923, and 3,143,028. |
