Description: |
This malleable iron adjustable wrench has the shank with the hammer head & jaw sliding through a loop on the back of the second jaw. The drawing shows the shank with the head having half-circle threads that are engaged by the adjusting nut. Known examples marked "PAT*D AUG 6, 78" have the adjuster enclosed in a loop, with threads all around the shank of the movable jaw. An 1885 MOLINE MALLEABLE IRON CO. advertisement in WESTERN MANUFACTURER shows HILL'S WRENCH.
An adjusting nut & threaded half-circle shank similar to the one shown in this patent appear on adjustable malleable iron wrenches marked with patent dates corresponding to Byron C. Bradley's patents (nos. 140,111 & 155,139). See also patent no. 166,020 for another similar design. |
