|
Description: |
This invention does away with the tang, which tends to split the handle, potentially inflicting injury on the user, and in addition the manufacture of the tang adds cost and complexity and instead the heel is shaped to fit into the jaws of the matching file handle of patent 68,585.
Alfred Weed was Superintendent of the Arcade File Works, which was in business in Sing Sing, NY, by 1865 (they claimed "Established 1842"), moved to Anderson, Indiana in about 1893, and was acquired by Nicholson File Co. in 1900. The Arcade brand survived until 1972 and the Anderson, Ind. plant remained open until 1978. |
