| A "stab in the middle of the lid and run a blade next to the rim" type can opener. The drawings and specifications include optional frame construction including Hawks' April 17, 1900 sharpener (patent no. 647,602).
A household combination tool marked "VICTOR" with both patent dates incorporates the opener and sharpener. A 1912 ad for the HERCULES CAN AND BOTTLE OPENER shows the can opener in a malleable iron combination can and bottle opener. |
