| Description: |  | One of the classic patent gages. The premise here is quite
	 simple, but really ingenious-- use a single screw to hold 3 or
	 4 arms by shaping the arms such that a single pressure point can
	 lock them all. This worked quite well, making these popular tools
	 in their day.
	 This gage was produced for about 20 years, in both 3- and 4-arm
	 configurations. The shape of the arm on the 3-arm gage was
	 slightly different than that shown in the patent drawing (it was
	 hexagonal, rather than triangular). |  |
