Gould & Co.This invention relates to an improvement in column power drilling-machines; and it consists, first, in a special means for unclutching the spindle-driving cone from its shaft, so as to operate with back gearing; secondly, in means whereby the back gearing may be thrown into operation and the spindle-cone be unclutched by a lever extended within reach of the operator, and preferably by a single movement of the same; thirdly, in an improved construction for the drill-feeding device; fourthly, in a stationary bar marked with drill-sizes and applied to the belt-driving cone to indicate the proper speed for the belt; fifthly, in a corresponding index applied to the drill-feeding mechanism to indicate the proper feed of a drill of given size; sixthly, in an improved means for locking the drill-shank in the spindle and for driving it out of the same: and, seventhly, in an improved construction for the sliding sleeve and toothed rack which sustain and feed the drill-spindle. |  |
