Description: |
| Lipsey describes this patent as an improvement on his Aug. 15, 1865 patent (no. 49424). In this patent, the bar with the "hook jaw" has a center slot with a serrated fulcrum piece, and the bar with the "tooth" has rack teeth to engage the serrations on the fulcrum. This feature enables the tongs to be adjusted to fit a range of sizes. |
