| Description: | | The movable jaw has fine teeth on an inner face to mesh with similar fine teeth on the main bar. The adjustment is held by a cam-lever which applies pressure on a small piece in the back of the movable jaw. Canadian patent CA-2,460 of June 14, 1873 has a similar cam-lever without an intermediate block between the cam and wrench shank.
Some collectors suggest an unmarked malleable iron quick adjusting wrench with a toggle cam bearing directly on the back of the main bar is related to this patent, but the resemblance may be coincidental - 4 inch & 9 inch examples shown in 2nd image. | |
