| Description: | | The patented disk sander design has a rather interesting history. It was first manufactured by Pioneer Dustless Disk Co. of Syracuse; as the name suggests, the emphasis was on the machine's integrated dust collection. Within a year or so it was being manufactured under the name of Syracuse Sander Mfg. Co. That firm was acquired by Porter-Cable Machine Co. in 1922.Inventor Ray Carter later developed the first successful general-purpose router; see patent 1,433,497. | |
