| Description: | | The movable jaw is both "quick" and screw-adjustable. The screw threads are wedge-shaped in cross section, and the movable jaw is held in contact with the screw by a spring in the back side of the movable jaw. By compressing the spring, the jaw can be moved in relation to the screw. The base for the adjusting screw is fastened to the main bar by a permanent wedge key and small keeper screw.
Joslyn's Dec. 7, 1875 patent (no. 170,860) is closely related. | |
