Stan Schulz Fox's Tire Bolt Wrench (FLICKR)
|
Description: |
The gear case has two meshing gears with central square openings to receive a crank-handle, and the shaft of a socket. This is designed to tighten nuts on carriage wheel tire bolts.
A review of the patent in the Oct. 1, 1876 issue of "THE HUB" notes Mr. Fox was "foreman smith" at Studebaker Bros. Mfg. Co. in South Bend. Fox's ad in the same issue is evidence the wrench was being manufactured. |
