| Description: | | Improvement to Hayden's May 17, 1881 patent (no. 241,490). The improvement is jaw and frame modifications which better distribute strain to resolve problems with threads breaking on the movable jaw. The adjusting threads are moved from the shank of the hook jaw to the main shaft of the wrench, and from the outside to the inside of the adjusting ring.
Ken Cope's "American Wrench Makers 1830-1930" asserts Crane produced this wrench. Crane's company produced plumbing supplies. | |
