Description: |
The jaws have a cutting blade, and semi-circular notches with interior ridges. This is to cut fuse for blasting, and forming a water-tight seam between the fuse and metal fulminate blasting cap. The rod handle pokes a proper sized hole in the stick explosive for the cap and fuse.
The tool was motivated by wet working conditions in Colorado mines. A known example is marked "PAT. JAN. 17, 88." |
