Carl Matthews "Vintage Machinery" entry for W. C. Toles Co.
Description: |
| Seen on a W. C. Toles Co. Nos. 20 and 60 vises. The basic innovation is to use a pair of steel rods to guide the movable vise jaw, reducing wear and friction. This has proved to be the best solution to a long-standing problem and these steel rods are found on virtually every wood vise made today. This patent was improved in patent 613,535. |
