| Description: | | Improvement to Wright's October 3, 1893 patent (no. 505,869) to add replaceable toothed gripping surfaces for pipe and rods, and an alternate gripping sleeve for smooth finish pipe. Holes in the adjusting nut allow for insertion of small lever handles, and the action of the lever handle alternately tightens and releases the jaw grip once the size has been set by the screw adjustment.
Production versions of Wright's pipe wrench cite the October 3, 1893 patent. | |
