Stan Schulz ASBURY's No. 3,709 of 1869
|
|
Description: |
| The patent presents a variety of arrangements for a screw-adjustable jaw on a nut wrench. Asbury is listed as a stock & die and wrench maker in contemporary Birmingham directories.
One known ASBURY wrench has markings that correspond to a Febr.11, 1867 "Registered Design" (#4842) but that physically resembles the wrench in the the drawings. Asbury received "Registered Design" #4876 for another screw wrench on Aug. 10, 1867. The XL corresponds to one of the drawings in this patent. (See the entry for Asbury in Ron Geesin's THE ADJUSTABLE SPANNER for other Asbury designs.)
Note: Early British patents (pre 1916) were numbered by the year and started at patent #1 at the start of each year in January. The patent # used in DATAMP represents the year of registration and the patent # (with "leading zeros" interposed to make the number total nine digits). This patent is #3,709 of the year 1869. |
