| Description: | | Provision for adjustable connection between the pivoted handles and jaws. This aspect provides compound leverage to the gripping force, and facilitates working a range of sizes. A variety of jaw attachments adapts the tongs to a range of work requirements.
The patent date appears in a 1902 "new product" announcement for Casterlin's Hoof Cutter, which also shows features that appear in his August 26, 1902 patent no. 707,822
The provisions for connection between the handles and jaws are adopted by reference in Casterlin's May 30, 1905 patent no. 791,245. Other ideas for adjustable connection between handles and jaws appear in Casterlin's later hoof trimmer patent (No. 835,900). | |
