| Self-feeding ratchet drill; in the preferred form, the feed screw has left-hand thread. The feed ratchet works on a two-piece sleeve with the interior piece having interior threads. The rate of feed can be regulated by holding the feed ratchet out of engagement. 
Chapman's Self-Feeding Ratchet Drill appears in 19th Century catalogs; the original design and subsequent improved versions were produced by J. J. Walworth Co. of Boston. |
