| "A purpose of the invention is to provide a device productive of a series of rate changes from the movement of a single lever, together with means indicating the particular rate corresponding with any given lever position... the invention has been shown in connection with a machine tool of the type generally known as a knee and column type milling machine."By the time this patent was issued, co-inventor Robert Scofield Condon had left Kearney & Trecker to work for the Gleason Gear Works in Rochester. His timing was poor: when he made the move in 1929, he was one of 80 engineers at Gleason, but by 1934 he was one of two. |
