Vintage Machinery entry for C. A. Lawton Co.
Description:
Apparently Wallace L. Field was associated with a woodenware manufacturer in Escanaba, Michigan, which had contracted with C. A. Lawton Co. of De Pere, Wisconsin to provide machinery. It appears that work related to those machines led to this patent and also patent 629,989. See also patent 211,898, which shows that co-inventor Field had been in De Pere in 1879 and was already working on cooperage machinery.
