Description: |
Electric motor based on the two-phase power system developed by "Professor Ferraris in Turin", which was identical in almost every respect to that simultaneously developed by Tesla (patents 382,279, 382,280, 382,281, and 382,282). The Ferraris / Tesla was licensed by Westinghouse from both men, but Westinghouse (even with assistance from Tesla) was ultimately unsuccessful in commercializing it. Westinghouse would instead be successful with the three-phase power system that would later be developed by von Dolivo-Dobrowolsky.This patent is equivalent to a series of European patents, all granted in 1889: German patent DE-51,083, French patent FR-199,154, Belgian patent 86,818, Luxembourg patent LU-1,153, Italian patent "July 4, 1889, L, 456", and Swiss patent CH-1,532. |
