| Description: | | "The objects of the invention are to provide a tool holder in two portions, one slidable upon the other, whereby the force of a sudden blow can be applied to the work. The inner member contains a tapered socket for the tool in which a chisel of any size or shape can be securely held, and which projects from the outer member. The outer member is provided with a weighted head which is preferably shaped to form a hammer and thereby increase the usefulness of the tool, and also comprises a handle for the manipulation of the tool."
Woods' early patents match products listed by the Woods Specialty Co., Granville, NY ca. 1898 - 1902. In later years, he appears in corporations associated with his patents in several places including Toronto, Cleveland, etc.
A May 1917 brief item in Hardware Dealers Magazine notes a variety of Woods' designs produced by the Koren Mfg. Co. of Cleveland. | |
