Description: |
An example has been seen, labeled "PARAGON / No. 1 / BLAKEY'S / PAT'D JUNE 3R 1884". We have also seen one marked "No. 2" instead of "No. 1". A web search produced ads from John Blakey of Leeds, plus a brief writeup in the 1897-09-16 The Iron Age that shows an illustration of this device, "being manufactured by Jno. C. Kupferle, St. Louis, Mo. The lasts are japanned and are made in two sizes, No. 1, small, weight 7½ pounds each, and No. 2, medium, weighing 9½ pounds each." |
