Jeff Joslin Vintage Machinery entry for Ingersoll Milling Machine Co.
|
Description: |
Further improvements to horizontal milling machines that drive both ends of the spindle, as in patent 1,081,932. The improvements are aimed at avoiding problems when a pair of cutters are mounted, one close to each end of the cutter bar, and there is an interrupted cut where one of the cutters has no work to do for a portion of its horizontal travel. In addition, a mechanism is provided to distributed power equally to either end of the bar regardless of any small misalignment of the drive mechanisms on either end. |
