Description: |
| This simple tool is for use when repairing tongue-and-groove flooring. When one board is to be removed from the middle of the floor it is necessary to cut off the tongue so that the board can be pried out. The tool has a thin knife-blade that is pushed into the gap between two boards and down through the tongue, without denting the edges of either board. Peck was an inventor and manufacturer of tools but it is not known if he manufactured this one. He manufactured as "W. A. Peck" and seems to have sold that business to "West Haven Mfg. Co.", of New Haven, CT, which in 1920 was acquired by Millers Falls Co. This patent post-dates that acquisition although the "West Haven Mfg. Co." name continued in use until at least the mid-1920s. |
