Description:
The patent describes a two-part device: (1) a nose-piece hinged in the middle, with knobbed arms that insert in the nostrils, and spikes. (2) a swinging spiked "mouthpiece" hanging from the nose piece.

The FULLER calf weaner shown in catalog listings matches Fuller's 1877 patent 194,594, which roughly corresponds to the "nose piece" portion of this patent.
