Description:

This snap ring is designed so that it can be installed over the diameter of the shaft without having to start it at the end of the shaft, since the shaft ends are often inaccessible to the snap-ring groove once the shaft has been installed. Previous snap rings either required access to an end of the shaft or else they did not securely press against the bottom of the groove. This pressure against the groove bottom keeps the snap-ring seated and helps prevent it from rotating relative to the shaft.

The Czech firm of Waldes Kohinoor had been established in 1902 in Prague by Jindřich Waldes and Hynek Puc to manufacture buttons, snaps and similar items—at first just for clothing but they eventually expanded into industrial fasteners as well.
