Description: |
| Tuttle forms the threaded hub by brazing a piece of iron onto the steel cap. He claims this is less expensive than the earlier swaging on of the piece.
Charles N Tuttle, along with Edward Myderse Howland, Nelson Fitch, and C.P. Fitch had a contract for prison labor at Auburn State Prison from 1869 - 1874 to make plane irons and wooden planes. The DAT lists a "Howland & Co, Augustus working in Auburn NY as using a Beehive trademark. |
