Description:
"The invention relates to hand grips for tools. The general object of the invention is to provide a sheet metal hand grip of inexpensive construction that may be readily applied to the tool even after such tool has been given its final form. A further object of the invention is to provide a grip that may be used as a center grip or as an end grip when an end cap is secured to it. A further object of the invention is to provide a grip in which the limiting stops for the grip are enclosed by it, thus preventing any possibility of bruising or lacerating the hands of the user."

These handles were used on BLACKHAWK socket wrench sets even before the patent was issued; they are clearly shown in an August 1925 AUTOMOBILE DIGEST ad for BLACKHAWK Quick-Detach socket sets. The same issue has an announcement that American Grinder Mfg. has changed its name to BLACKHAWK MFG.

The handle grips also appear on BLACKHAWK brace wrenches shown in the second and third photos illustrating the entry for patent no. 1,476,058.
