Description:
The patented feature is adjustment by a rack bar held in engagement with rack teeth by a ball or balls. The ball or balls can be retracted by turning sockets in a parallel "bolt" toward the rack bar.

The adjustment means is shown applied to a combination nut & pipe "monkey wrench," to an adjustable chain wrench, and to an adjustable open end wrench.
