Claim:

In a gas-engine, the combination with the cylinder, piston, crankshaft driven thereby and valve-shaft driven by the crank-shaft, of igniter and admission-valve controlling cams loosely mounted on the valve- shaft, gear-segments on said cams, an idler connecting said gear-segments carried by the valve-shaft and means for moving said cams independently of the valve-shaft.
