Description:
The sections of the tool are called aligning and adjusting portions in the abstract. The straight and curved slots work to move pins connected to the gripping faces. As the handles close, the gripping faces close around a hexagonal object. A spring opens the handles, enabling a ratchet-like cycle of grip, turn, release, grip.

(2025 update comment): Patent litigation between the inventor and Sears, Roebuck & Co. have been the topic of academic studies. Sears had been found guilty of using a "knock off" copy of this design for its CRAFTSMAN "MAX ACCESS TOOL," and LoggerHead was awarded substantial "damages," which Sears was able to block on appeal. Even if LoggerHead had been able to prevail, taxes and legal fees would have consumed most of the "damage award."
