| Description: | | The patent is another manifestation of Weston's ratchet action which uses an unequal number number of teeth and pawls. In this patent, the teeth are on the face of a collar attached to a central threaded rod, and the pawls are arranged around the rod's periphery. There is no provision to reverse the action. The primary use for the design is as a feed-screw. Weston received five successive patents on March 3, 1868 -- this patent and nos. 75089, 75091, 75092, & 75093. | |
